A useful workspace needs room for both current work and information worth keeping. Archive and Trash solve different problems. Choosing the right action helps you tidy up with confidence.
Archive means “keep this for later”
Archive a finished checklist, a reference note or a plan you no longer need in your active view. The item is still part of your workspace, but it is out of the way. Unarchive it when it becomes useful again.
For example, archive the checklist from your last trip. When you plan the next one, bring it back or clone it as a starting point. Archive is a good choice when you are uncertain whether you will need something again.
Trash means “I intend to remove this”
Move an unwanted item to Trash when you no longer want to keep it. Stowlet provides a three-day retention window for restoring trashed items. Restore within that window if you change your mind.
Permanent deletion and expiry cannot be undone through Restore. Do not treat Trash as long-term storage or as a backup. If the information matters, keep it active or archived instead.
Which action fits?
| Situation | Choose | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| A completed project may be useful later | Archive | Retain its information without cluttering the active workspace |
| A duplicate or unwanted item | Trash | Remove it, with a limited restoration window |
| An item is needed again | Unarchive or Restore | Use the action appropriate to its current location |
| You are unsure whether to keep something | Archive | Preserve it while you decide |
Check the result across devices
For signed-in synchronization, use the same account and allow connected devices to receive the change. An item moved to Trash should leave the active workspace on your other device as the change synchronizes.
If you have an editor open while an item changes elsewhere, check whether it has been archived or moved to Trash. Check Archive or Trash before recreating an item you cannot find.
A simple weekly tidy-up
Review your active items, archive completed work you want to retain and trash only what you intend to remove. Pin the few items you need most. A smaller active workspace can be easier to navigate without throwing away useful history.
